As a 14–16-year-old caddy at Brynwood Country Club in Milwaukee, MLR Manager Darrell probably never envisioned the years of service he would dedicate to a special private club in Long Grove, Illinois. He started at Twin in the duel role of main bartender and storeroom receiver. Over 40 years, the best developments he has seen at Twin are the influx of fresh faces and interaction and melding of golf groups here due to Club tournaments, creating a friendly and warm atmosphere. Darrell has several favorite memories. He enjoyed the times he and his wife attended Twin parties with delicious dinners and live music. He recalled a special time when Mr. Glicken was Chair of the Entertainment Committee and the bands he brought in. Band members were staged in the MLR and Darrell got to chat with them. His favorite exchange was with Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits. He also described great memories of interactions with Michael Jordan during Mr. Jordan’s time as a Twin member. Darrell found him to be very charismatic in presence and word and quite friendly to the staff. Outside of Twin, and his love of golf, Darrell enjoys playing board games with his grandchildren. He especially likes chess. He is a Civil War buff and relishes the time to watch old movies.
